Google Earth Companion user guide:
Google Earth Companion allows recording data from your GPS receiver in KML format for further use with Google Earth. All recorded data can be sent to PC or used with Google Earth. Moreover this application allows using your GPS receiver in a very efficient way for different navigation tasks. It also allows recording tracks and creating waypoints and much more.
This program requires a separate GPS receiver. It's not supplied with your device!
Basic terms and concepts:
Bluetooth GPS receiver - a device that receives signal from a satellite and sends it via bluetooth to your device. You can find a list of some GPS receivers here. To choose and activate GPS receiver, select Options - Misc - GPS. In GPS dialog check GPS ON and select Address;
Waypoint - a point with coordinates, name and description. Waypoints dialog offers the possibility to send it as KML to another device or your PC.
Track - a totality of coordinates that can be saved during movement. Tracks dialog allows choosing and sending a track in KML format to another device or your PC.
Google Earth - is an application for PC, you can learn more about it here http://earth.google.com.
Track view:
In this view you can navigate to a chosen waypoint. It shows traversed path, direction of movement, distance and direction to the destination waypoint. The data to show can be customized.
The shown information can be adjusted in Layout menu:
None;
Brief;
Location;
Motion;
Trip;
Extended;
To specify destination waypoint use menu Destination:
None;
Selected point (custom coordinate);
Selected waypoint (one of previously saved waypoints);
Nearest waypoint;
Also you can zoom track in and out, clear track and set up customized font sizes.
Compass view:
This view shows the compass and detailed information about the destination waypoint.
It allows selecting the type of compass:
Fixed - compass arrow doesn't rotate;
Rotated - all elements of compass rotate;
Info view:
This view shows all the information obtained from the GPS receiver as well as various statistics such as average speed, maximum altitude, odometer etc. You can customize the data to be shown in this view. For each view cell you can select the following data:
Latitude;
Longitude;
Speed;
Average speed;
Max speed;
Altitude;
Average altitude;
Min altitude;
Max altitude;
Heading;
Odometer;
Trip odometer;
DOP - Delusion Of Precision;
Fixation: 2D/3D/Not valid;
Number of used/total satellites;

Name of destination;
